Hello friends. Our 5th/6th grade basketball season ended Friday night at Taneyville. Plainview girls got 2nd place and Plainview boys got 1st place. They all played really hard and we had fun spending ballgame time with friends and family. Erin Crum had a big cheering section Friday night with both sets of grandparents, Neal and LeaAnn, Ashton and Charlie, Uncle Jim and Aunt Dawn, Uncle Martin and Aunt Amy, and cousins, Colby Biggs, Makaylee and Madison Tilley.
Janice Wolf is the first person we see at a Taneyville game as she sells the tickets that let us inside! Thursday night she had news about the new grandbaby and on Friday night had a picture of this precious little one with red curls. Rich and Heidi’s little girl, Shelbi Dawn, came about 8 weeks early on 03/03, weighing 3lbs, 3 oz. We are happy for them and will continue to pray for Shelbi and Heidi.
We sat with Jay Gideon one night and learned that Casey and Quentin have been fishing and getting some nice Walleye. In addition to fishing, the kids also went shopping for Brenda’s birthday surprise. They went all the way to Clinton, AR, and brought home an itty-bitty dachshund puppy.
Kaitlyn Gideon had a fender-bender in Forsyth when someone rear-ended her pretty red mustang. She was at the ballgame Friday night, said she had some sore spots but is going to be okay.
Bill and Christie Biggs went to Fair Grove Saturday to watch granddaughter, Vanessa Bilyeu, play with Blue Eye’s Lady Bulldogs in the District Finals. We stayed home and listened to the radio and cheered for Vanessa’s 3-3 pointers! Springfield Catholic took first place, but we are proud of the Lady Bulldogs and the great season they had.
My goal on Saturday was to work on income taxes and I made a good start. I can never get it done in one setting,
Charlie Edwards had a birthday Saturday, his 16th, so I think a driver’s test is on his schedule for this week. We have ridden with him and know he is a good driver.
Kasie Bilyeu Fisher came to see me Saturday morning and I got the whole dirty scoop on last week's "Mudding" adventure. Justin and Kasie took Jim and Dawn out in their jeep to play in the mud on Garrison Ridge Road. They had a blast splashing through huge mud puddles and tried “one more” just before dark. The jeep did not make the crossing, but buried down to the frame. No amount of rocking back and forth would budge it, so they walked. With no cell phones, they were relieved to find someone at home after walking only 1 ½ miles. Fortunately, there was someone with a big truck and thirty-foot chain that pulled them out. He said it was the worst he had ever seen.
After leaving my house on Saturday, Kasie and her kayak were off to Lake Taneycomo for some water adventure. Oh, to be young and full of energy!
Neal was at our house Thursday to finish out some hickory trim on the new bathroom cabinet and gave the kitchen deck a facelift with new balusters all around. After living with it for 20 years, Rick said he didn’t know why he never thought of doing it before. It just takes a wife to have good ideas and see that they are carried through!
Our hearts are heavy for the Kenyon and Cook families. Patsy Cook Kenyon passed away Thursday evening from complications due to having a kidney stone removed. Visitation will be at Whelchels in Forsyth on Monday from 6-8:00 p.m.; the funeral will be at 1:30 on Tuesday at Lone Star Church. Patsy was a vital part of our Lone Star community and will be missed. Bye for now.
