DOGWOOD ACRES, 03/22/10, ELANE CRUM
Hello friends. Spring break is over and fortunately, our kids did not have another snow day. We watched the radar, only slightly hoping to get some of the snow that came so close. My first day of spring was spent showing property all day in the rain. It was not so bad and you got to figure that people who want to look in the rain are not just sightseeing.
I picked Ashton and Erin up Thursday afternoon and we went to Yakov’s Moscow Circus with others from our family. Our cousin, Alvie Davis and his wife, Judy, were visiting in Branson and we met them there. Christie and some of her bunch joined us for a fun evening.
It was an early show and we were out in time to go down to The Landing. The girls were looking for new Easter dresses and we walked from one end to the other without finding anything. I was exhausted when we finally got home, but had to be ready to go again Friday morning.
Friday was a shopping day in Springfield and they found everything they needed. It was 6:00 p.m. when we got home and threw a pot of spaghetti on the stove. Neal and LeaAnn came over for the evening and brought “the surprise” with them. For over a week, the kids had been telling us they had a surprise, so this was really exciting and so much fun. Seeing all four of them and “the surprise” load up in the pickup to go home was quite a hoot.
They had to leave before Rick came home from fishing, so now I have to keep their secret until he knows all about it (them). There is more than one.
Rick has been coughing for weeks now, but Friday was sunny and warm and he just had to go white bass fishing. Olin and Janie Tilley were fishing near him and sounded like they had a fun evening. After finally catching three white bass and coughing his head off, he came on home. Only minutes after getting home, he had a coughing spell that apparently broke a rib, leaving him in a world of hurt. Everyone has told him there is nothing to be done but just tough it out.
Our neighbor, Marguerite Sloan, had hip surgery last week and is back home recovering quite nicely. I talked to her daughter, Rhonda Bowman, who said she is not even using her walker. I imagine she will be riding her mule again soon.
Rick took Jeff and Janet Dalton to Fayetteville, AR, on Tuesday for checkup on Jeff’s knees. Jeff has been a good patient, doing everything the Dr. told him and got a good report. I have never gone with them on a Dr. trip, but sounds like they always manage to have a good time. This time their good times caught up with them when a cop pulled them over for not wearing seat belts.
Rick’s mom celebrates her 87th birthday this week. Wish we could be there, but it will be summer before that trip is made. Plane tickets are already purchased for all of us except Rick who plans to drive so he can take Little Fox and stay as long as he wants. The kids and I are excited to be flying out of Branson into Denver and from there to Portland. Happy Birthday Mom! Bye for now.
