DOGWOOD ACRES, 04/19/10, ELANE CRUM
Hello friends. Today is the first day of turkey season and Rick Crum bounded out of bed, seemingly full of energy and ready to call a big gobbler. I am working at home today so that I can be here to take a picture when he brings it in.
After suffering so much with his ribs, first one side and then the other side, he shuddered at the thought of pulling the trigger on a 12 gauge shotgun, but God is good. Sometimes things happen that can only be described as from “the hand of God”. When you see Rick, ask him about it…what happened and when the pain left.
The “hand of God” also was with Tanja and Dakota last week. They were setting at a stop sign when a young woman driving a pickup rear-ended them, then bounced off and hit two other vehicles. Tanja’s SUV was totaled, she had lots of bruises and Dakota has a broken arm. With his right arm in a cast Dakota feels pretty bad about missing out on softball.
Rick and I spent Friday and Saturday at the 128th Annual Session of White River Association of General Baptists at Taneyville. It was good to spend time with our extended church family and hear good news from sister churches throughout our area.
Tracy Frazier Fischer was telling me about their trip to the State FFA Convention in Columbia where they watched Ethan get the State FFA degree. This is quite an honor as only 2% of the FFA members in the state of MO received this award and he was the only one from Forsyth to earn it. I think Ethan was just a little sad to realize this would be his last FFA convention as he will graduate next month.
Bill Biggs and Sean Tilley are mixing a little fishing up with turkey season while Bill is on vacation this week. I saw them Saturday with some nice big white bass and walleye.
We spent Sunday afternoon with our family at Bill and Mary Lou’s Douglas Co. farm. The goats were not there, but we are told they are growing by leaps and bounds. Erin is getting ready for softball and talked the others into playing out in the field. Charlie is a good pitcher and with some coaching Erin was cracking some pretty good hits. Mary Lou has a good hitting arm and seldom missed.
The landscape at Sandy Church is changing as we enter into a building program this week. The new building will have a Sanctuary and basement which will have some classrooms and an office for the pastor. It will sit just to the left of our current building and the two will be connected by an enclosed breezeway. Our current building will continue to serve us well with classrooms and a larger fellowship hall. It is an exciting time of growth for us. Bye for now.
