DOGWOOD ACRES, 05/24/10, ELANE CRUM
Hello friends. Yard sale time is rolling around and we are all working hard to be ready for it. Ads have been put in the paper, Christie is making signs and flyers and we are all cleaning out the corners. Rick encouraged me to donate all of our stuff to a fundraising yard sale that LeaAnn will be having at the Options Pregnancy Clinic in Ava. He thought that would be easier, but I don’t think he realizes how many trips he would have to make to get it all there. We always have things left over and will still be able to donate. I think their sale is in June.
Rick is mowing and weedeating so our place looks decent. He swept out the garage so that I can begin stashing everything there for Friday morning. We are just hoping the day starts off dry.
Sean said Madison cleaned out her toy box, hoping to make some spending money. Brother Jim said they have everything that Wal-Mart has at 3X the rollback price. Fran and Pat are still in the moving-in and combining household sale stages so have a big variety. I am truly trying to let go of "stuff" that I will probably need the week after it is all gone.
There are four separate sales, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to shop. From Forsyth, take H Hwy off 160 and you should see the first sign in about 7 miles. Coming from Chadwick, the first sign will be at the Taney Co. Line. Sales begin at 7:00 a.m. Friday morning.
You may remember that Uncle Bill and Aunt Roma celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 16 with a cake and party at Wedgewood Gardens. This past Saturday we attended a family dinner in their honor at Dobyns Dining Room at The Keeter Center at College of the Ozarks. Their daughter, Marilyn, and her family came from Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Marilyn had made them a lovely scrapbook filled with pictures and mementoes of their 50 years together.
When asked for advice on a successful marriage, Uncle Bill said to love each other and love the Lord. They have certainly done that and are an inspiration.
Aunt Wanetta was there with her sweet neighbor, Lorie Rock. Lori’s husband, Jacob, had taken Uncle Roscoe to the Emergency Room for treatment of hives. I talked to Uncle Ros on Monday and he said he had no idea that hives could be so painful, but is getting better.
Aunt Wanetta is celebrating her 88th birthday this week; finally catching up with Uncle Ros who already turned 88.
Our family has a lot of May birthdays, Marty Bilyeu and his son, Dakota, Neal Crum and then, Ashton Crum and Makaylee Tilley, both turning Sweet Sixteen. Happy Birthday dear ones. Bye for now.
