DOGWOOD ACRES, 08/23/10, ELANE CRUM
Hello friends. Doggie Day Care…yep, that is Rick’s newest thing. Dawn Bilyeu chose her puppy a couple of weeks ago and came after him Saturday. She took little Malcolm home and gave him a bath, babied him all weekend and did a good job spoiling him. Sunday night she called to see if could spend the day back home with Trixie and the others while she and Jim were gone to work. Monday morning she put Malcolm outside to go potty and he disappeared along with Jim’s big dog, Buddy. Sick at heart, she went on to work fearing that Malcolm would never be found.
Well, Justin found both dogs at Ken Puchta’s house and not knowing that Dawn had adopted one of Rick’s pups, assumed it was ours and put it back in the pen with Trixie and all the others. Malcolm smelled funny after having a girly bath and Trixie was growly with him. At the end of the day Dawn came home and rescued him so, one could say, “all’s well that ends well”.
We enjoyed fresh produce this week from Jay Gideon’s garden, there is nothing quite like crisp green peppers, yellow banana peppers, big red tomatoes, but I have not had nerve to try the little green peppers.
Christie Biggs is still peeling fresh peaches from their trees and making that good peach jell. Boy, do I like that, it is good with hot biscuits and butter or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Oscar Cook stopped in to visit with Rick one day last week. Last year Oscar and Carolyn took one of Rick’s puppies, but they have not been persuaded to take one from this year’s litter.
Rick has continued his frenzy of mowing and weed eating around our house. It sure looks better and with any luck he will not have to do it again before bow season opens on September 15.
There seems to be little news this week, so I will say Bye for now.
